Homemade Ice Cream... Yum!

I remember as a child sitting on the front porch of my grandparents house waiting for that sweet cold ice cream. Family and friends would all be gathered around chatting as my grandfather cranked the ice cream maker. My grandmother and all of the other women were usually in the kitchen talking and making a nice spread of food for everyone. That was the good ole days. Now a days we don't enjoy homemade ice cream anymore. We go to the store and buy all of the fancy flavors from the Starbucks Java Chip Ice Cream to the crazy flavors Ben and Jerrys has come out with.

My love story isn't like a fairytale story you heard as a child. I met my husband online through yahoo. Neither of us were looking for relationships just looking to make new friends. We met in February and talked back and forth through email. One Friday night I was actually at home and so we got to talk on yahoo messenger. We talked for hours and clicked instantly. He ended up telling me he had a part I needed for my truck that my grandfather gave me.

Bring Kyron Home!

I blogged about this little boy last summer. He had come up missing from his school. His name is Kyron Horman and I am sure many of you have heard this name or seen it many times. Today will mark the one year anniversary of him coming up missing. This family is still trying to find Kyron.

Overnight Guest

I have been a busy momma this morning getting my house in order and back to normal.

My oldest son has been a busy bee helping me clean without argument.

A friend of his from school is going to come and stay overnight here at our home. He has never had someone stay overnight so this is a wonderful first for him.

Summer is Here

My son's official last day of school was yesterday.


What does this mean for our family?

Hopefully a fun filled summer and not a stress filled one.


We already have our first summer weekend plans made.

We plan to head for the border for Memorial Day Weekend!

Life is good...

I am probably one of the last people someone would expect to hear that from due to my many past complaints about various things that has happened in my life and that is happening in my life. I simply stepped back and reminded myself things happen for a reason and we make of it what we will. Since I have applied this to my life things have gotten better for me. Not everything is perfect, because well no matter how bad we wish things could be nothing is perfect. My family is healthy and happy. We are finally getting answers on the baby's health issues even if it does mean possibly more specialist and further away trips for doctor appointments. Whatever helps us out and makes him better. Plus we can make the most out of the trips. We always do. If we have to go to New Orleans I will make the most out of it by going to Cafe Du Monde.

There are always things people need, but we are at a point in our lives where we are able to get those needs. Might take a little time or might have to wait till the following week (or month depending on what it is), but needs (and wants) get met. My kids are waiting to see if they are accepted into Connections Academy for our state as well. I am hoping this does happen for them (and staying positive that it will), because if not I will have to find and purchase home schooling materials for them. This is a free program and books are provided. I just have to provide things like pencils and a way to go for the field trips. I will of course also provide my time and lots of motivation for my runts to grow and flourish.

Other great things on our horizon is the fact that I am hoping we can make us a little vegetable and herb garden this late spring/early summer. My middle child LOVES tomatoes. He loves them so much he will go to an all you can eat buffet and eat all he can of tomatoes. Especially if they have the cherry tomatoes. I want to buy some tomato plants for him so he can grow his own cherry tomatoes. Homegrown and harvested with love always taste better. We are increasing the baby's protein intake. So far this has helped him gain another pound. I am happy about this and now I am aiming my goal to hit 33 lbs since he is already around 32 lbs. One pound at a time. Just like the old saying one day at a time. We are taking everything one step at a time putting one foot in front of the other.

On another note before I go. I have been a major fan of Mortal Kombat the video game since I was a teen. Some people may know (some may not if you don't follow what games are coming out), but the new Mortal Kombat for PS3 was released at midnight this morning! I totally am excited, because my husband preordered me a copy and paid it off Friday so now I just have to patiently wait for him to get off work so we can pick it up. I can not hardly wait. I feel like a little kid waiting for Santa's visit. I love love love this game. I don't even play video games much (aside from my guitar hero once in awhile), but this game I can see it now will get worn out.

Sweet Kisses...

Every morning I wake up. I put a load of clothes on to wash just before I go to bed and usually get up in the middle of the night and put them in the dryer so they are fresh out of the dryer for my son and my husband. Want them looking and smelling fresh for work and school after all. I get everyones stuff together and make my rounds. Wake up my oldest first, because he takes the longest to get up and get dressed. Wake my husband and he usually wakes our middle son and gets him ready. I leave the baby for last and get him up and going after I have gotten myself dressed and ready to start my day.

We then pile into the car and take daddy to work. My oldest gets out of the back seat after we drop daddy off and on his way around the car he stops to give me a hug and a kiss since he won't be able to do so before he gets out of the car at school. My husband then stops and gives me a hug and a kiss before he goes into the shop. We drop my oldest off at school and head back home. As I am getting my other two out of the car they both come up to me and give me a hug and sweet little kisses.

By the time bedtime comes back around I have already received numerous sweet little hugs and kisses from my younger two, my husband and yes even my 8 year old son. What makes these hugs and kisses so sweet is the fact that I don't have to ask for them. They are given freely.

When I am sad I am given a hug and a kiss.
When a tear runs down my face from happiness or stress I am given a hug and a kiss.
When I give a gift I receive a hug and a kiss.
When I fix dinner and hand out plates I am given a hug and a kiss.
When I am just simply sitting here blogging I am given a hug and a kiss.

There is no end to the Sweetness I receive from my men and I count every single one as a blessing. These are the things that keep me going every day.

Where is my snow?

I am sitting here literally trying to "thaw out". We had a winter storm hit us here in the south. Burrrr...

All winter I have waited for my snow. Heard the other day a winter storm was moving towards our area. We were looking at 1" - 3" of snow.

Yesterday morning I woke up expecting to already see some snow on the ground. They said it would have started in the middle of the night around midnight to 2 am. I look out to see nothing but some drizzling rain (freezing rain at that).

Well I snuggled back up in my bed watching the weather channel. All of a sudden I hear "ting ting ting" on my windows.

I jump up and hurry to my front door and look out to see huge pellets of sleet falling. I got excited, because this usually means snow is close by.

Not long after my announcement of the sleet a friend of ours peeked out the window and said, "Don't get me wrong, but doesn't that look like snow?"

All excited about the snow we were now getting which was sticking we were already planning on building a snowman and having snowball fights.

Within 20 to 30 minutes our precious snow stopped falling. Freezing rain came back and the icicles began to form on anything and everything.

All day the weather people kept saying snow will come. It will start out mixing with the sleet and freezing rain before it switches over to just snow. Yet my snow never came.

I instead got stuck with an ice rink. Our roads have ice, bridges are either frozen over if you are out in the country or slick and slushy if you are in town.

Ice is normal for the south (or to me it is since all but one winter before meeting my husband was ice and winter before we met was ice and snow from December into January)so it is not like this is not a normal thing here. I just wish instead of the ice deciding to make an appearance again that the snow would have instead.

So here I sit at my computer with my hot coffee trying to warm myself up, because even though our heat is on it is still cool since I am near a window. My toes are cold and feel like they are as frozen as the trees and power lines outside my door.

Now we shall see how long it takes for our little town to thaw out. Temps are slowly moving above freezing (although wind chill is remaining below), but our lows will be down yet again so we will probably refreeze.

Hopefully the skating rinks we call roads and bridges will be thawed out come Wednesday since we have a Pre-op appointment that day for our baby boy.
