I remember as a child sitting on the front porch of my grandparents house waiting for that sweet cold ice cream. Family and friends would all be gathered around chatting as my grandfather cranked the ice cream maker. My grandmother and all of the other women were usually in the kitchen talking and making a nice spread of food for everyone. That was the good ole days. Now a days we don't enjoy homemade ice cream anymore. We go to the store and buy all of the fancy flavors from the Starbucks Java Chip Ice Cream to the crazy flavors Ben and Jerrys has come out with.

What does this mean for our family?
Hopefully a fun filled summer and not a stress filled one.
We already have our first summer weekend plans made.
We plan to head for the border for Memorial Day Weekend!

Errands, Errands and Oh Yea Errands...
Well it is a very hot Friday. Made a somewhat wasted trip to the WIC office today. This was highly annoying since it is a 15 minute or so drive for me. My kids were good for me at least. That was a plus. Did some more Friday running after getting back to town. Now I am sitting at home wondering when Fall is going to get here. I am so ready for these hot temps to go away! We have a very busy week ahead of us next week. My baby boy goes for his appointment with the Kidney Specialist Monday. Then Tuesday for a Speech Evaluation. Wednesday we will be going back to the WIC office. All I can say is thank god the gas prices have gone down some! We are going to make the most of Monday at least since we are driving a hour away from home. Going to take the kids to eat somewhere and try to relax and enjoy the day before we go in for his appointment. Our family absolutely love the Bossier City Boardwalk! Bass Pro Shop is also right there on the Boardwalk. Sometimes I wish I had access to a million dollars when I go to the Boardwalk. Awesome place with awesome shopping and great restaurants!
Now I would like to ask all of you what kind of errands do you despise having to do? Does the summer heat make it more miserable for you to have to get out and run errands? Comments! I love them!! :)

Summertime Treats for the Family!
I am in another recipe sharing mood. I love to search the Internet for recipes that my children would enjoy. I do this so much it could probably be considered a hobby. Well in my search I came across some Summertime Recipes on one of my favorite sites that I have stamped my approval on in a past post. FamilyFun.com has loads of Summer recipes up on their site that you and your family young and old would enjoy!
Here is my Saturday recipe pick to share with all of you out there! Hope you enjoy!
Melt-in-Your-Mouth Melon
Ingredients:
1 Honeydew
Raspberry Sherbert
Chocolate Chips
Instructions:
1) Halve the honeydew, discard the seeds, and chill it overnight in the fridge.
2) The next day, put the halves in the freezer for 15 minutes, pull them out, and pack them with sorbet, gently evening off the top.
3) Using a chilled knife, slice each half into halves again (make sure the melon is sorbet side up).
4) Finally, insert a row of chocolate chip seeds and serve immediately.
This Recipe and many others can be found at FamilyFun and gets my Momma's Stamp of Approval.

Hot Southern Days and a Cold Refreshing Beverage
If any of you live in the southern states you know how hot and humid the summer days can be. You also know how hot and thirsty they can make you. I myself enjoy cold drinks like Sweet Iced Tea and Lemonade. Here is a recipe I enjoy to use for making very yummy and very easy Lemonade without having to squeeze the lemon myself.
Real Lemon Lemonade Recipe:
Makes one pitcher
13 cups of water
2 cups of RealLemon Lemon Juice from Concentrate
2 cups of granulated sugar
Combine all 3 ingredients and stir. Serve over ice or with lemonade ice cubes.
Hope this helps cool you guys off this summer!
Enjoy!

Summer Sunday
As the days of summer slowly come to an end over the next month and a half I thought I would find a recipe to place my seal of approval on. I looked for one that would have a summer touch to it and looks like a great cool down for a hot summer Sunday. I don't know about the rest of you, but I live in the south where you sit under a shade tree and sip on something ice cold like some sweet tea, lemonade or something of the sort. Most of us also love to enjoy snacking on some cold watermelon during the summer or homemade ice cream.
I have found a recipe on Allrecipes.com with a touch of summer to it. It has frozen strawberries and watermelons in it.
This recipe was submitted to Allrecipes.com by Nobody'sGirl. I am putting my stamp of approval on this recipe and hope you all enjoy it.
